Was it hard to learn to play by ear …
I always like Celtic music. It speaks to me, be it fast and furious, or slow and sad. Before I joined the Scottish Fiddlers, I used to try and learn on my own from a tune book. It was rather lonely and unstimulating. The group opens up a new world for me. Now I prefer to play by ear than to read the ‘dots’.
Anything else …
My violin (in its 90’s) has been passed on to me from several persons in the family. It has also travelled a few continents.
